SEAI Apartment Charging Grant and eStation’s Role in Facilitating EV Charging in Apartment Complexes
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) provides an Apartment Charging Grant to assist residents and owners of multi-unit developments in installing Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers. This grant is intended for the bulk installation of chargers at a single location and covers costs for cabling, infrastructure, labour, and construction.
Eligible applicants include owners’ management companies, housing bodies, local authorities, and commercial and private landlords. The initiative aims to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles by offering up to 80% funding for infrastructure costs and €600 per installed charge point.

The grant caters to different scenarios:
- No Existing EV Charging System:
If your car park lacks an EV charging system or network, the management company can apply for grant support from SEAI. SEAI offers up to 80% funding for infrastructure costs and an additional €600 per installed charge point. The management company may also arrange with you to cover any remaining costs for ownership of the charger.
- Existing EV Charging Network:
If your complex already has an EV charging network, contact your Management Company to request permission to join it. They will provide instructions on the required equipment and supplier, as well as how to set up an account for using the system. Once this is done, visit the Home Charger online grant system to apply for a Home Charger grant.
Who Can Apply

- Management Companies of Build-to-Rent Developments
- Local Authorities

- Management Companies or Equivalent of any multi-unit development with two or more units that share facilities, amenities, and services, where shared or private parking is available, but lack dedicated private off-street parking.
