Project Brief

Enercon contacted eStation to deliver EV Charging facilities at their office locations in Kerry and Dublin, as well as providing managed EV Chargers at the homes of Enercon personnel.

eStation was tasked with developing a cost-effective and scalable solution that incorporated the following key objectives:

  • Optimise the savings associated with operating an EV fleet through managed home and workplace chargers, while also providing staff with straightforward access to public charge points
  • Assess EV charging infrastructure requirements at both home and office locations to meet employees’ needs
  • Design a solution capable of meeting current demand while remaining easily expandable for future growth
  • Identify the most suitable combination of charging outputs to support employees who drive electric vehicles
  • Ensure the user experience is simple, clear and efficient, whether charging at home, at work or in public

Our Solution

We began by analysing EV drivers, their typical driving patterns and their charging requirements. This allowed us to establish the expected mix of home, workplace and public charging. We also assessed the available electrical infrastructure at office locations and determined the type of charging equipment it could support.

At employees’ homes, we installed SIM-enabled chargers that allow remote monitoring and management of all charging sessions. Using this data, employees can be reimbursed for home charging costs through a fully automated process, with no direct action required on their part.

At workplace locations, we used Dynamic Load Management and user diversity to design a charging solution that was cost-effective and minimised the need for electrical upgrades. In addition, staff were given the ability to roam across 95% of public charge points nationwide, enabling them to activate chargers seamlessly without paying at the point of use. All public charging payments are managed by eStation.
